Education
Staff:
Being a Tour Guide entails a one-week non-paid training
program before being eligible for hire. This training
program allows applicants to get to know the Zoo, the
animals and the staff closely, to learn about the Zoo’s
message of Humane Education, and to learn how to handle,
care for, and interact with all the Zoo’s animals. Tour
Guides are given the opportunity to share all their
knowledge with daily visitors to the Zoo as well as to a
variety of audiences through our educational programs like
Junior Zoo Keepers or our Outreach programs. Tour Guides
interact with the animals every day!

Animal Care Staff:
We will train you for animal care
positions if you do not have experience in the field. Keeper
positions carry a huge responsibility as you are THE person who
completely cares for the animals under your watch. The job
entails cleaning, watering, feeding and detailed observation of
each animal’s behavioral changes from day to day. The zoo is
divided into 5 main sections for animal care positions. Those
areas include: Commissary (food preparation for the animals,)
Primates, Hoofstock, Carnivores and Birds and Reptiles.
